There’s a kind of beauty that’s born from brokenness. A type of strength that’s shaped in silence, when no one else sees the pain but God.
Hi, my name is Sandi. I’m a Latina creator, and the designer and business owner behind Decor8yourlife. But more than that, I’m someone who’s been walking through fire with paper, scissors, and prayer in hand.
I live with Scoliosis, D.I.S.H. disease, degenerative disc disease, Spondylosis, MS, Psoriatic Arthritis, Neuropathy and a severed vocal cord nerve. The pain? It’s daily. The setbacks? Countless. Painful spine surgeries? Five and counting. Vocal cord surgeries? Several. But my story? It’s far from over. And that’s why I’m writing this—for the crafters and creatives out there who are also pushing through the pain, wondering if they’re alone. I’m here to tell you that you’re not. And neither am I.
My Craft Room Became My Sanctuary
When the pain was too loud, I needed a quiet outlet. That’s when crafting became more than just a hobby—it became healing. My little craft studio turned into a place of refuge where I could create beauty despite my body screaming otherwise.
Every sheet of scrapbook paper I design, every embellishment I package, every blog I post, every YouTube video I create—it’s all done with an aching spine, inflamed joints and a hopeful heart. And somehow, God meets me right there in the mess of it all! My creativity isn’t separate from my suffering—it’s born from it.
Creating Through The Pain With Faith in Every Fold
I’m not just creating to pass the time—I’m creating through the pain because I believe God placed this calling in me. Every paper collection I release, every handmade piece, is my way of saying: “Hey! I’m still here. I still believe. And I’m still going.”
My crafting business isn’t just a store—it’s a ministry in disguise. A space where others can find joy, inspiration, and perhaps even healing through the things I make. I pray over my collections. I speak life into my designs. Because when you can’t use your voice the same way anymore, you learn to let your art do the talking.
The Legacy I’m Building
Through all of this, I’ve stopped comparing. I’ve stopped chasing trends. I’ve stepped fully into my brand, my story, and the assignment I believe God gave me. That’s why I’ve started building what I call my Legacy Brand—a vision rooted not just in success, but in significance.
In 2025, I committed to something deeper than metrics and money. I created a spiritual life plan called “Living the Assignment,” which you can download and print for free. It’s a guide for creatives who want to work with faith and intention, even when the road is hard. Click here for blank free printable.
You’re Not Alone—You’re Anointed
If you’re reading this and you’re living with chronic illness, disability, or invisible battles—please know this: Your story is still unfolding. Your creativity still matters. Your pain isn’t proof of failure—it’s part of the mission.
God didn’t forget you. In fact, He’s using you in ways you can’t even see yet! Just by creating through the pain, you’re already inspiring someone else to keep going.
So don’t stop. Don’t give up. Whether you make scrapbook pages, journal tags, or handmade embellishments—keep putting love and beauty into the world. Because someone, somewhere, needs exactly what you’re creating.
With love, faith, and glittered fingertips,
Sandi
