A Beginner-Friendly Tutorial & Design Inspiration

When I first opened my PandaHall package, I immediately started imagining all of the different directions I could take these beadable pens. As many of you already know, I’ve been creating handmade beaded pens for years to coordinate with my journals, traveler’s notebooks, and other paper crafting projects, so I was excited to experiment with PandaHall’s pen bases and decorative components.

Instead of following one particular color palette, I challenged myself to create several boutique-inspired collections using PandaHall’s beadable pen bases, crown toppers, and rhinestone spacer beads, while incorporating specialty beads and bead caps from my own personal collection. The result was a series of elegant writing accessories, each with its own personality and style.

Why I Chose A Luxury Theme

Instead of making colorful novelty pens, I wanted to create designs that felt elegant and timeless. I pictured something you might find displayed inside a boutique gift shop or tucked inside a beautifully wrapped journal set.

To achieve that look, I focused on three design elements:

The Crown Toppers Became the Star of the Show

Without question, my favorite PandaHall product from this collaboration was the decorative crown toppers. The moment I added the first crown to one of my pen designs, everything changed. Instead of looking like a simple beaded pen, the finished piece suddenly felt elegant and sophisticated.

Inspired by vintage jewelry and delicate tiaras, these pens feature soft blush tones, sparkling crystal accents, and PandaHall’s beautiful crown toppers. The overall look feels feminine, elegant, and timeless.

Warm ivory beads, champagne crystal focal beads, and gold accents create a sophisticated design perfect for weddings, journals, planners, or thoughtful handmade gifts. This collection became one of my personal favorites because of its classic, boutique-inspired feel.

Who says elegance can’t have a little personality? By pairing leopard print focal beads with gold crowns and sparkling rhinestone spacers, I created a playful collection that still feels polished and refined.

It’s a wonderful reminder that unexpected combinations often produce the most memorable designs.

Soft lavender beads paired with iridescent crystal accents create a delicate shimmer that changes beautifully in different lighting. The silver crown toppers complement the cool color palette perfectly, giving these pens a graceful and whimsical feel.

My Favorite Design Tips

After creating beaded pens for many years, I’ve discovered a few simple techniques that help every design look more polished.
